Opis produktu

High Molecular Weight Polymer for Drilling Mud Performance

Product Description

PHPA Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a high molecular weight anionic polymer flocculant widely used in drilling mud systems to improve fluid performance, stabilize wellbores, and control solids behavior.
The BLUFLOC® PHPA PAM Series from Bluwat Chemicals is designed for oilfield drilling applications where rheology control, fluid loss reduction, shale stabilization, and lubrication are critical to drilling success.

As a multifunctional polymer additive, PHPA PAM enhances drilling mud efficiency by combining flocculation, encapsulation, viscosity modification, and surface lubrication within a single product.

Role of PHPA PAM in Drilling Mud Systems

In drilling fluids, PHPA PAM performs beyond conventional flocculants:

  • Flocculates fine solids and clay particles to improve solids control

  • Encapsulates cuttings to prevent dispersion and excessive fines generation

  • Builds a thin, low-permeability mud cake for fluid loss reduction

  • Improves mud lubricity and reduces mechanical friction

  • Stabilizes drilling fluid rheology across varying water qualities

This makes PHPA an essential polymer for modern drilling mud formulations, especially in complex or reactive formations.

Key Performance Benefits

  • High Molecular Weight Efficiency
Provides strong polymer bridging and adsorption for effective solids management.

  • Enhanced Mud Stability
Maintains consistent viscosity and suspension performance under dynamic drilling conditions.

  • Fluid Loss Control
Improves filter cake structure and reduces filtrate invasion into formations.

  • Shale & Cuttings Control
Limits hydration, swelling, and dispersion of shale and clay-rich formations.

  • Lubrication Improvement
Reduces torque, drag, and wear on drilling tools and drill strings.

Typical Applications

  • Oil & gas drilling mud systems

  • Water-based drilling fluids

  • KCl and brine mud formulations

  • Directional and horizontal drilling

  • Geological, coal, and industrial drilling

  • Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) fluid systems

PHPA PAM is suitable for freshwater, sodium brine, calcium brine, and KCl-based systems.

Technical Characteristics

  • Polymer Type: Anionic Polyacrylamide (PHPA / PAM)

  • Molecular Weight: Very High to Ultra-High

  • Degree of Hydrolysis: Medium to High

  • Effective pH Range: 5–14

  • Solubility: Water-soluble polymer

  • Thermal & Chemical Stability: Suitable for demanding drilling environments

  • Compatibility: PAC, CMC, biopolymers, and standard drilling fluid additives

Application & Mixing Guidelines

For optimal performance, PHPA PAM should be properly dispersed and hydrated.

  • Recommended Solution Concentration: 0.1–0.3%

  • Make-up Water Temperature: 10–40 °C

  • Dispersion Method: Polymer eductor or dry powder feeder

  • Mixing Time: Approximately 60 minutes with continuous agitation

Proper hydration ensures maximum polymer chain extension and consistent drilling mud performance.

Packaging & Supply

  • Powder Form: 25 kg kraft bags with inner PE liner

  • Emulsion Form: 1000 kg IBC containers

  • Storage: Cool, dry place, protected from heat and direct sunlight

  • Shelf Life:

    • Powder: 24 months

    • Emulsion: 6 months

Multiple grades are available to match different drilling depths, fluid systems, and performance targets.
